The State Housing Company (SHC) has named its newly commissioned 24-hour Premium and Express Service Centre after former Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Samuel Sarpong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. Sarpong was among eight people who died in the helicopter crash that occurred on August 6, 2025, in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The newly commissioned centre is expected to enhance client experience, improve efficiency, and ensure the responsible management of government housing assets while supporting Ghana\u2019s broader housing agenda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the company\u2019s head office in Accra, the Managing Director, John Sheriff Bawah, said the facility forms part of a broader strategic plan introduced in 2025 to ensure SHC delivers not only quality and affordable housing but also efficient administrative services to its clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe 24-hour service centre is designed to support clients around the clock, offering assistance with estate purchases, project updates, documentation, and research, while providing continuous feedback on application statuses,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Bawah also highlighted achievements in estate management, announcing the successful renewal of head leases for five key estates\u2014Teshi-Nungua, Achimota, North Laboni, East Cantonments, and Kaneshi\u2014describing it as a major milestone for the company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor the first time publicly, we have secured these lease renewals. The only other time this was done successfully was under a previous NDC administration,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On revenue mobilisation, the Managing Director disclosed that SHC has launched a nationwide campaign to recover unpaid obligations from clients occupying government lands without proper documentation or payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe are taking steps to ensure that all government assets under our care deliver maximum value. Enforcement actions will commence against illegal occupants now that the grace period has ended,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, who addressed the gathering, praised the initiative and stressed the need for adequate staffing, resourcing, and monitoring to maintain professionalism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis centre must serve as a model of excellence within the housing sector and the wider public service, demonstrating how government institutions can operationalise the President\u2019s 24-hour economic policy,\u201d the Minister said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
